About the project

Portpatrick Harbour Community Benefit Society was formed in July 2015 with the aim of saving and securing Portpatrick Harbour into full community ownership for the benefit of all.

To save and secure the harbour in to full community ownership we have an optimum target of £75,000 and a maximum limit of £100,000. The minimum investment is £25 and the maximum investment is £10,000 per person. Acheiving our ultimate goal of raising £100,000 will allow us to kick start much needed upgrades should we attract enough interest.

This project will help to bring stability and economic benefit to the local community and will be financially viable and self sustainable, preserving this historic asset for the benefit of current and future generations.

This share offer meets the Community Shares Standard

Portpatrick Harbour, located on the South West coast of Scotland has a rich history reaching back over 400 years and has served its community well. Today this untouched harbour continues to serve mariners from both near and far but requires sympathetic upgrading to facilitate the needs of the modern sailor.

This share offer is open to anyone who has an affiliation with the village of Portpatrick and who wishes to help save and retain this unspoiled piece of Scottish heritage. The community of Portpatrick now reaches far beyond its boundaries to include all those touched by its charm and friendly atmosphere and who return year after year to visit this picturesque harbour.

This is your chance to make a real difference, by purchasing community shares you will be actively involved in protecting this iconic harbour which lies at the very heart of the community of Portpatrick and is undoubtedly one of Scotland's best kept secrets.
